Absolute superb establishment which is a pillar of the local community. In particular, the chicken and rice combo is dreamy. You will find it very hard to find anywhere in London which has the combination of price and quality that Maxes provides. I’ve been there countless times and it never lets me down.

Been visiting this absolute gem of a cafe in Brixton for two years and I cannot fault the service or the food. Have a beer with your meal or a coffee with tasty beans, the service is impeccable. The selection of home cooked style food makes you feel at home. The price of such great food is cheap and the plate is always stacked high. Best English brekkie in Brixton, IMHO. In my 8 years living in the UK I had not found a place where they served me food like at home (I am Spanish) at a reasonable price. I loved it, I will be back for sure. The food was delicious! Real home cooking. Thank you very much
Nice Family run Sports Pub cum Restaurant. Good Portuguese Snacks and Beers. Good service and close to the Brixton station.
We went to Max’s on a Monday evening, and it was packed. It’s a casual snack bar, where you can sit inside( there’s also a TV for football games etc if you’re a fan of sports ) or sit outside and enjoy the Mediterranean vibes all the way. The location is 4’ from Brixton station, really convenient with many bus options too. We tried the meat, different selections of fish and a few many Portuguese beers! Everything was tasty and fresh. The staff was really welcoming and friendly, it felt like home! I’ll be going back again for sure. Highly recommended, obrigado!
Very nice and cosy place in the heart of Brixton. Food is delicious,fresh and home made..and very generous portions for a good price. We had the octopus with vegetables and potatoes and we loved it. A place to know for a quick and tasty lunch or a bite.
Very tasty food for cheap prices. I enjoy the bacalhau and chicken. They serve Superbock and Sagres draught. Superbock is one of my favourite lagers and quite hard to find on tap!
